Hollywood expat Zanne Devine launches Canadian distrib outfit

Hollywood producer Zanne Devine has launched a new Canadian multi-platform distribution company, Pacific Northwest Pictures, to be based in Vancouver and run by Emily Alden.

Devine is originally from Toronto and established in Los Angeles as a film producer, with credits that include the 2010 comedy Easy A, starring Emma Stone and Stanley Tucci, and HBO Films’ Cinema Verite, which she executive produced.

The first big title to go out under the Pacific Northwest Pictures label is Rain Down (pictured), the Vancouver-shot feature debut from TV director Gavin Sanford (Destiny Ridge), and starring Jessica Hill.

Pacific Northwest Pictures will acquire, produce and release Canadian filmed entertainment via all distribution platforms, including theatrical, DVD, on demand, cable and broadcast TV, and online.

Devine intends to split her time between Los Angeles and Vancouver, while Alden runs the new distribution outfit day-to-day as vice president of production and development.

Other Pacific Northwest Pictures titles in the pipeline include Michael Melski’s Charlie Zone, an urban thriller now being shot in Nova Scotia, the Amanda Crew-starring comedy Sisters & Brothers, directed by Carl Bessai, and Daniel Cockburn’s first feature You Are Here, which stars the late Tracey Wright.
