It turns out CTV and Rogers Communications aren’t jointly bidding on all live sport rights up for grabs in the Canadian market.

TSN and TSN2 on Tuesday emerged as the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the upcoming EURO 2012 and 2016 European football championships, as part of a deal with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

TSN and Rogers Sportsnet jointly broadcast the Euro 2008 competition.

But TSN-parent CTV chose to go it alone in securing the latest English and French multimedia rights in Canada for the popular European football competition.

That deal comes as CTV and Rogers get set to jointly bid for the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games as part of their Canadian Olympic Broadcast Consortium.

CTV going it alone with the UEFA competitions will see RDS and RIS being the exclusive French-language broadcasters for the 2012 and 2016 championships.

The UEFA deal also includes media rights for the UEFA European Under-21 Championships, and  the UEFA Women’s EURO 2013 competition.
