Gil Bellows feature shooting in Havana

Gil Bellows is our man in Havana.

The Canadian actor (pictured) is jointly writing, producing and directing the low-budget feature Gravity’s Pull in Vancouver and Havana with long-time friend Tony Pantages.

“At this stage of my career I can create the kinds of movies that I really love – in this case a really exciting thriller that pulls the rug out from under you over and over again. This is what I’ve always been working towards,” said Bellows, who has another recent producer credit on HBO’s award-winning film Temple Grandin.

The homegrown thriller about a Canadian businessman who jumps on a plane to Cuba to empty his mind, only to find more adventure than he bargained for in the sunny paradise, this week saw production shift from Vancouver to the Caribbean island.

The ensemble cast for Gravity’s Pull includes Bellows as a Vancouver businessman, Kathleen Robertson, Don McKellar, Tygh Runyan, John Pyper Ferguson and Matt Frewer.

Bellows and Pantages collaborated with Kathleen Robertson, David Weaver and Terry Miles on the script.

And Bellows, Pantages, and Sidney Chiu are producing the Canadian thriller.
