CBC Studio 40 in Toronto is currently playing home to the production of Cookie Jar’s Mudpit, which kicked off November 17.

The CGI animated/live-action series takes place in a gaming café and revolves around a real-world teen foursome and their titular rock band. Another part of the series takes place in a virtual world where their online rock band personas duke it out for a record deal.

Mudpit was announced earlier this spring, with Guru Studio (Guess With Jess, Justin Time), is handling the CGI for the series, while game company NDI Media is handling an online music role-playing game based on the brand.

The series is created by Jamie Waese, former head of current programming for Cookie Jar, with showrunner/executive producer Bruce Kalish (Mork & Mindy, Aaron Stone). It stars Jesse Rath (18 To Life), Carleigh Beverly (Rookie Blue), Vas Saranga (Unnatural History) and Daniel Magder (Life with Derek).

Mudpit is slated to air on Teletoon English and French in fall 2011.
