Sharekeith Mahar’s legal action against Rogers Communications hit a dead end when an Ontario Court judge ruled the petition was outside provincial jurisdiction, a matter more regulatory than contract-related.
Mahar will subsequently file a complaint with the crtc claiming that subscribers have not been notified of the cable companies’ decision to contribute a portion of subscriber fees to the Cable Production Fund.
He will also be enlisting the help of Ontario Liberal mp Dan McTaig in a public awareness campaign, blanketing members of parliament and consumer groups with information on how subscriber fees are being used without their consent.
Mahar doesn’t rule out taking the case to Federal Court.
