Michael Ray Fox’s first feature is Roaming in Halifax

Roaming, winner of the inaugural First Feature Project award from Film Nova Scotia and Telefilm Canada, has started production.

Writer/director Michael Ray Fox’s relationship drama, shooting in and around Halifax through March 5, stars Rhys Bevan-John as a young, reclusive autistic man, Cory Bowles and Sarah D. McCarthy as his roommates, and Christina Cuffari.

Roaming is using $110,000 in production financing from the Canada Feature Film Fund and Film Nova Scotia.

The First Feature Project funds a producer, director, writer team to make their first feature film after the director made a series of short films.

Daniel Lillford and Martha Irving complete the main cast.

Roaming, which is produced by Richard MacQueen, follows Fox shooting a host of short films, including Katrina’s New Beau, Why Vinnie Carponzo Hates Trains and A Lesser Sort of War.

Fox (pictured) and MacQueen won the First Feature Project award at the 2011 Atlantic Film Festival as part of a juried competition.

Michael Melski is executive producing Roaming.
